The Itinerary

Hey everyone, welcome to my New Zealand trip blog. If you haven't heard I will be vacationing with some friends in New Zealand starting on February 23. I set up this blog to keep in contact with those interested in my travels. My goal is to update daily with posts, pictures, and videos.

We'll spend 10 days there visiting the three cities: Auckland, Rotorua, and Queenstown. After several months of research, we have finalized our itinerary.

Auckland - Kiwi Capital
Day One - Waiheke Island Essence of Wine Tour
Day Two - Tour City of Auckland
Day Three - Waitomo Glow Worm Cave Black Labyrinth Tour

Rotorua - Time for Some Culture
Day Four - Zorbing + Champagne Pool
Day Five - Tamaki Maori Village

Queenstown = Global Adventure Capital
Day Six - Zip Lining
Day Seven - Milford Sound Sea Kayaking
Day Eight - Bungy Jumping + Jet Boating
Day Nine - Franz Josef Glacier Hike
Day Ten - Queenstown Hiking + Head Home

I've never taken a vacation that will be anywhere near as physically demanding as this. The most striking quality I've noticed throughout my research of New Zealand is its physical beauty. My friends and I have done a tremendous job of packing the trip with excursions that will showcase the beauty of the country while testing us mentally and physically. Queenstown in particular will be challenging. Some of you have had the pleasure of Interlaken, Switzerland, the extreme sports capital of Europe. Queenstown is Interlaken on steroids.

This is the anti-Europe trip. We won't spend three to four days touring a city. New Zealand lacks the centuries of history and culture that cities like Barcelona, Prague, Paris, Rome, etc. hold. The country offers a diverse array of natural attractions with its mountains, beaches, glaciers, sounds, volcanos, vineyards, nature reserves, etc. that few countries can match.

Please let me know if you'd like to subscribe to a daily blog update or if you have any questions by emailing me at justin.smit@live.com. I would be more than happy to do some recon for anyone who would like more travel information about NZ.
